From our own Production / 2015-2016
Godall. Tarragone. Spain.
Ralda + Friends oil comes from the oldest olive oil region in Catalonia, likely established in pre-Roman times. Our olive trees are located between the “Els Ports” (los Puertos de Beceite-Tortosa) and the Godall mountain ranges. There are many thousand-year old olive trees in this area that you can visit by bicycle or on a scenic hike. The olive varieties farga, sevillenca and morruda are native to the Montsià region and they have distinct characteristics to olives from in the rest of Catalonia.
The Trio Pack includes one bottle of Single Variety Morruda Ralda+Friends DOP, one bottle of Extra Virgin olive oil, and one bottle of Extra Virgin Olive Oil DOP which has the Baix Ebre Montsià Protected Denomination of Origin.
All of our oil comes from olives from the Montsià region (in the province of Tarragona), in the south of Catalonia, grown by us and by our friends in Godall. This ‘superior category’ olive oil is high quality, with an intense, fruity taste, obtained directly from olives which are mechanically pressed, and is not refined.
The Ralda+Friends Morruda Olive Oil DOP (DOP means Protected Denomination of Origin), is a limited edition obtained exclusively from the Single Variety Morruda, typicall of the Baix Ebre- Mòntsia.
The Ralda+Friends DOP Olive Oil is made exclusively with the three olive varieties that are native to the Baix Ebre-Montsià region: farga, morruda and sevillenca.
These two oils are made from olives grown on the best plots that belong from our own production and from members of the Godall co-operative, who produce the oil under the supervision of the Regulatory Council of the Baix Ebre – Montsià Protected Denomination of Origin (D.O.P). This type of oil is obtained directly from olives which are mechanically pressed. These olives are picked directly from the trees using nets in order to to preserve them, and they are pressed in the mill less than 24 hours later.
Because of its fruity taste, our extra virgin olive oil is often used in salads, traditional”‘pan con tomate” (tomato bread), and the famous “alioli” sauce.
Our DOP Olive Oil has an intense taste is often used in salads, grilled meat, fish and vegetables.
Finally The Single Variety Morruda Olive Oil, is bitter and powerful at a time, and has a slight astringency that allows it to perfectly accompany your salad, artichokes and grilled meats.
Our oil lasts for a year from the date it is bottled (see label) and all of our bottles are made from dark green glass to protect the oil from light and oxidation. To keep the oil fresh we recommend that you keep it in a cool and dark place.
